Weekend Warm-up 22:

With a spoken word piece introduction, DJ Skinner’s latest mix starts out gritty and minimal; the minimalism of the track meshes well with underlying trip hop and jazz elements. But then taking those jazz undertones the track switches things  up about half way through and gets funky. Gritty melts away into groove and afro-beat, even entertaining a lighter note with a Lion King sample. Eventually the track settles into up-tempo house beat and completes the journey across countless genres.

And while there is a good number of build ups and drops scattered
throughout this mix, they’re restrained so that this mix does not rely solely on them for merit. So if you are all about those mind warping drops and  high energy bounce tracks, this mix is not of that ilk.

But do take a listen if you want to listen to a mix that is multi-faceted. With Mandible, DJ Skinner has managed to achieve that delicate balance of depth and humor. And these combined elements result in a thought
provoking auditory experience.

Cheers
