you comin?
Matt Miller & Kilter - Gravel Pit (Flume Live Biggie Edit)
First up this week is a a totally jaw dropping live edit by Flume I grabbed up off his NASTY Boiler Room set last week in London. Following up a solid twenty twelve campaign, the australian native aims to build off this momentum into the new year, already dropping his first ever music video and continuing his stellar work as one half of the dub group What So Not. Expect big things from this kid in 2013, hes a mainstream crossover waiting to happen.
FRANK OCEAN- PINK MATTER (SIVEL REMIX)
Some real dovey vibes on this one. I dont think theres an act in the industry that knows hot to tug on those heart strings quite like Ocean right now. Now add in some spacey trap chords and kicks. Total body high.
FLYamSAM - The Offbeat
Not sure if its just my mood or state of mind as of late but ive really started to get into the experimental/electronica scene. I just kind of dig the lack of explanation these songs provide, and that instead they promote you to interpret the meaning of the songs yourself. This little known group is actually a collab of Flying Lotus and Samiyam, coming straight off of Adult Swim’s first ever mixtape ‘Ghostly Swim’ (you know the trippy songs that are in the background of their intermissions? yeah). Anyways if this is the type of stuff your into you should download the entire tape over at their site, its free.
Tantrum Desire - Guided Rhythm
Turning the BPM wayyy up, this is one of my favorite rage tracks at the moment. Wow even typing that makes me a little uncomfortable but whatever, its true. Name anything you crave in a proper drum n bass tune, and this ones got em.
SHADOW CHILD- THE ONLY ONE
Probably my pick the best in deep house at the moment, UK based producer Shadow Child has been churning out tunes faster than I can keep up. There isnt a guy out there who makes such simple tunes sound so powerful. Another one I have on my ‘who to watch for’ list this year.
heRobust - OG Status
Im such a sucker for hip hop samples. Its literally the difference between average and dope when im browsin through trap music.
Bass Kleph feat. Ron E Jones - Flashing Lights (Original Mix)
To be honest i cant fuggin stand the progressive/electro house movement at the moment. Everyone in the scene is so caught up in producing a tune big enough for the massive venues they play that they sacrifice the objective of producing actual music. Anyways rant over. Heres a banger.
The Hood Internet - Pyramidspeak (Purity Ring vs Frank Ocean)
The matchmakers of music are back at it. This time theyve infused the Purity Ring with Frank Ocean to produce a tune that kind of sounds like a dream you had last night in Vegas.
MIX
Mini mix from none other than Disclosure thesmelves AKA THE DUDES WHO HAVE THE #2 SINGLE IN THE UK. Huge for dance music as a whole if you ask me.
VIDEO
A preview of the brand new Justin Martin & Eats Everything + a giant pillow fight.
